    This coin is an 1877-S Trade Dollar, graded by NGC as AU Details due to chopmarks.  The Trade Dollar was originally designed to be used by traders in Asia.  Chopmarks are fairly common when dealing with this type of coin.  This specific coin has 7 chopmarks on the reverse.  One of the chopmarks is on the "S" mintmark.  It appears that this coin may have received a mid-AU grade had it not been given a Details grade.
